Not all self care is about purchasing “things.” (In fact, my Peaceful Pauses Self Care Deck is all about free, quick, and easy self care ideas.) But, sometimes a little treat can pick up your spirits on a rainy day. Here are some of my favorite ways to pamper yourself on a budget.
Six cheap self care ideas:
*This page may at times contain affiliate links at no additional cost to you. Thanks in advance for supporting me and my family and for your help keeping this website running!
1. Visit my deals page.
It isn’t like your typical couponing and budgeting blog. I search and post only deals related to self care. (Great sales on bedding, pillows, mantra jewelry, inspiring artwork, you get the idea!)
2. Know someone who is a massage therapist, reflexologist or hairdresser? Try bartering.
Offer them cooking, sewing, or some other talent you have in exchange for a free or reduced treatment. Even free babysitting is a great bartering tool.
3. Check out your local massage school and sign up for their emails.
At mine, you can get an hour massage for around $30! And, once in awhile mine will send emails offering hot stone massages. They also send me coupons on my birthday and wedding anniversary.
4. Check for spa, massage, hair salon, salt cave, and dining deals on Groupon.
They also often offer up $10 off of any purchase or a certain percent off discount. Considering these deals are usually half price to begin with this is an awesome savings!
5. Use Airbnb. This is my favorite way to travel.
You can find awesome getaways on Airbnb and they are often cheaper than hotels. Plus, you can get $40 off your first reservation when you sign up using my referral link. I’ve stayed in tree houses, tiny cabins on a lake, cottages with hot tubs and more. I’m actually working on a post right now about all the gems I’ve found on Airbnb so you can see the amazing possibilities.
6. Ultimate Bundles are another affordable way to treat yourself when they come around.
They are usually under thirty dollars and contain thousands of dollars worth of eBooks, courses, webinars, plus free physical bonuses such as all natural eye shadow, beautiful stationary, herbal tinctures, artwork, and more. (
There’s an awesome Ultimate Homemaking Bundle going on until Monday, April 16th. Check out my review and favorites in the 2018 Ultimate Bundle and find out how it has already changed my life.)
My newest favorite treats are style challenges from Alison at Get Your Pretty On.
Her style challenges are usually around $29. Allison picks a select number of wardrobe staples and then pairs them to mix and match up to about 20 outfits. She shows you exactly where to purchase the items. It’s like having your own personal stylist. This is a dream come true for me. She offers a closet staple challenge, seasonal challenges and more. I am so crushing on her website right now. I feel so much more confident since having Alison as “my stylist!” (Alison’s Big Book of Outfits, a $49 value, is in the current 2018 Ultimate Homemaking Bundle. Her book alone is worth more than the entire bundle.)
