Hygge isn’t just for hibernating in the winter! Keep the cozy flowing with these ten spring hygge ideas:
1. Clean your windows and hang white curtains,
Take some time to clean your windows and hang white breezy curtains. Let the sunshine and fresh air in! I especially love the feeling of the first open windows and fresh air at bedtime in the spring.
2. Pick a bouquet of spring flowers.
Pick some spring flowers to bring inside. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, or forsythia make good choices. If you didn’t plant any bulbs last year grab a bouquet the next time you’re at the grocery store. Nothing brightens up a house like fresh flowers.
3. No flowers blooming yet? Try forcing some fruit or flowering tree stems.
Simply clip the stems from apple, cherry, or pear trees. Place them in a vase of warm water and within a few days they’ll start to bloom. Easy peasy, free, and beautiful!
4. Lighten up bedding and PJ’s.
Switch your bed sheets and pajamas from heavy flannel to soft, light cotton.
5. Change your morning beverage.
Switch up your hot chocolate or coffee for a refreshing and detoxifying nourishing green drink.
6. Embrace the rain.
I adore the rain. Climb up to your attic to hear the rain pitter pattering off of your rooftop, take a walk in it, jump in puddles, or try this rain meditation. It’s ok to get wet, water won’t hurt you! Sometimes I wonder why we ever invented umbrellas. Just like plants, we all need a little fresh rain water once in a while.
7. Welcome the birds back!
Hang bird houses, put out nesting materials, food, and a birdbath.
8. Decorate for Easter.
Pull out your Easter decorations and decorate with light pastels, eggs, nests, baskets, bunnies, and chicks.
9. Find a cozy tree house or cabin for a summer retreat or vacation.
Airbnb is the only way I travel these days. It’s saves us money and we’ve found some awesome, unique places to stay like this tree house we rented in 2 summers ago. Bucket list, check! 10. Start seeds in egg shells.
What can I say? I’m a sucker for how seedlings look planted in eggshells. And, they make it easy to plant in the ground once you’re ready. No worries about disturbing root systems. Just gently crack the egg and place the whole thing into the ground. This is another great activity to do with littles.
